Mayakkam Enna – The Mesmerizing truth of life in a Genius

The chance to lead a life as a human being provides plethora of opportunities that powers our preferences and discretion. Not everyone in this opportunity of life has been endowed with a gene of a genius in the right perspective. It is an important characteristic that distances and distinguishes the great from the good. The concept of life is thus rather unique in its own set of parameters of evaluation. A genius is one who doesn’t crave for attention and appreciation but rather the individual who naturally deserves it without an iota of doubt. The plot of Mayakkam Enna revolves around the two centric characters Kartik Swaminathan ( Dhanush) and Yamini ( Richa Sharma) whose struggle depict the honest battle of a genius in this vicious world. The character of Kartik ideally represents the eccentric attributes of a genius whose contemplations are enlightened by virtuosity and versatility. The portrayal of this character could be analysed on multiple dimensions but I would rather throw attention and focus the realistic principles involved in this genius personality. Kartik has been uniform in his priorities and motto of existence from the start till the end. Kartik’s ambitious goal to be a great wild life photographer and the course of uncertain events that possibly poses obstacles in his ambitious path are very common in the life of any genius. The initial scenes reveal the background of Kartik’s upbringing along with his sister who lives in the support of their friends. The entry of Yamini is rather initially conceived on expected lines but traverses on an unexpected path of expectations. Yamini is being introduced to Kartik by his friend Sundar as his Date mate but destiny leads Yamini to profess interest in Kartik and marry him eventually. Yamini plays to perfection the role of an inspiring life partner to Kartik.

Kartik on account of his interest in wildlife photography approaches an acclaimed wildlife photographer Madesh Krishnaswamy for technical guidance. Madesh as a character plays an interesting role of a cynical individual who is devoid of any professional and moral ethics indicative of many vicious personalities in any acclaimed profession. Madesh assigns a task of capturing Wildlife Birds to Kartik in to order prove his competence as an able prospective assistant to Madesh. Kartik embarks on this mission, where his friend Sundar and Yamini accompanies him. Sundar sights this trip as an opportunity to increase his intimacy with Yamini but the trip unfortunately to him goes the other way round bridging a more formidable relationship between Yamini and Kartik. Yamini reveals that she isn’t interested in framing a permanent relationship with Sundar whom she calls a drunkard. Kartik perplexed by Yamini’s Statements couldn’t digest this and tries to distance himself from Yamini in respect of his true friendship with Sundar which ends up in total vain. Meanwhile Kartik submits his photographic assignments to Madesh who disgustingly calls it a form of excretory waste. Kartik gets emphatically dejected by Madesh’s abusive remarks and ends up in a wine shop wherein he gets intoxicated severely. Kartik gets a telephone call from Sundar who pleads him to help Yamini who was stuck with her immobile car amidst a heavy downpour. Eventually Kartik undertakes the responsibility and arrives at a bus stop where Yamini was waiting for assistance. A very hazardous act of driving in an intoxicated state is being practiced by Kartik which Yamini sights as a reason for not accompanying him back home. When Kartik offers the driver’s seat to Yamini she rejects it claiming her incompetence to drive a bigger car, which she is not used to. Kartik laments to Yamini about his showdown with Madesh and his absurd remarks, wherein Yamini attempts to hug him and when they were about to venture it with more intimacy, an interruption in the form of Telephone call from Sundar arrives into picture. In this telephonic conversation Sundar opines that Yamini wants to communicate something to Sundar in the presence of Kartik the very next morning. Kartik with a sense of guilt for betraying Sundar by wooing his girlfriend elopes to Mysore all of a sudden shredding all communicational ties. Everyone is tensed and panicked by this sudden uninformed absence of Kartik , who has been dejected and disgusted by Madesh’s comments on his photography. Kartik after a day switches on his mobile phone wherein he realises that all of his close friends have flooded his inbox with voice messages questioning about his sudden disappearance . Yamini too pours her concern over the sudden absence of Kartik and states that Kartik’s Photo has appeared in the National Geographic Magazine. Katrik is pushed into a complete sense of mayhem wherein he finds his Photo in the magazine with Photography credits attributed to Madesh Krishnaswamy. Kartik returns home totally dejected and Yamini hugs him stealthily and this action accidently is witnessed by Sundar and his friends circle. Sundar unable to digest this fact reprimands Kartik and proposes not to talk with him further. After the intervention of Sundar’s father into this issue, things gain more clarity resulting in the marriage of Kartik and Yamini. Meanwhile Kartik attempts to talk with Madesh on the publishing of his photo and pleads Madesh to reveal the truth behind the photography credits. Madesh cynically avoids Kartik with disgust and forcefully pushes him out of the shooting spot where Kartik attempts to communicate with Madesh.

On a fine morning Kartik realizes through an article on a newspaper that his photo under the falsely attributed authorship of Madesh has won a prestigious award. Kartik who reads this news story at a balcony, collapses and gets severely injured in his head. This scene could be sighted as a case indicative of the narrative transition into a stage of disequilibrium and as a visual metaphor forecasting the sequence of disastrous consequences which Kartik is about to encounter. Kartik goes insane and loses his senses. He torments Yamini with his fiercely lunatic attitude and behaviour. Kartik ends up consuming liquor without a restriction, stoops down to capture pornographic images on account of his desperation and mental ill health. He as well hurts Yamini who was then preganant. The couple eventually lose their first issue due to the insane response of Kartik to watching a television interview where Madesh Krishnaswamy elucidates on how he captured the image of the wild bird, which in reality was a photographic creation of Kartik. Yamini totally shattered by this action, decides not to converse with Kartik hereafter, but sends every photographic creation of her husband to reputed Print Media Houses. On account of such untiring efforts by Yamini , Kartik ‘s photo appears on the Tamil Magazine titled Kumudam providing him a great breakthrough into the industry and earns him the necessary avenues to fulfil his life time ambition. Kartik in a few years advances in his career with accolades and appreciation from all quarters. The ultimate moment of this film is the climax where Kartik emerges victorious and earns the coveted International Best Photographer Award amidst heavy competing entries inclusive of his own Photograph which has been falsely attributed to the authorship of Madesh Krishnaswamy. Kartik after thanking all his friends for their role in his successful ventures throughout his career in the awards ceremony moves to exit the stage, but he suddenly comes back and shares that his inspiration and sole pillar of support through all thick and thin was his wife Yamini whom he addresses as his Iron Lady. The climax scene literally influences everyone to tears where the director must be certainly applauded for creating such a realistic vision on how an achievement by any genius of any profession is being recognized by his entire professional fraternity.

There are quite a few lessons we learn from this Film on the notion of Talent and technical virtuosity being recognized in the true sense. Talent and virtuosity can never be disrupted unless it is forcefully neglected by the potential individual who is in possession of a such a luminous ability. Genius individuals though projected as eccentric and exuberant personalities have a hyper sensitive attitude towards their professional practices. They can never tolerate any sort of backstabbing and cheating which gives undue credit to another individual who tries to elope away of their intellectual creations and exhibitions. There is always a woman behind any successful Man of any profession and proves to be certainly valid through the character of Yamini. Yamini’s role has been very well handled by Richa Sharma who can never be considered as a debut heroine with reference to this Film. She possesses all the characteristics of a promising actor who can truthfully represent any character on screen. Another noteworthy contributions is the effective Background score and Musical tracks of G V Prakash which add strength and momentum in the character delineation and story Narration. The most fascinating element is that of the Cinematographer Ramji, who does full justice in the scenes that reveal the various photographic experiments of the protagonist Kartik. As an ardent follower of the norm of watching films on an academic perspective, I would certainly applaud Director Selvaraghavan’s portrayal of the Mesmerizing truth of life in the Genius character of Kartik Swaminathan.

“ESSENTIALS OF WRITING A BLOG” - A SNAPSHOT ANALYSIS

A Blog is a perfect platform to share an individual’s personal experience and perspective without any institutional intervention. It allows a person to express himself and reveal to the world what he is, besides his name, physical, personal and socio-cultural identity. It enhances an individual’s communication skills in the written world.

A Blog is a unique medium that poses challenges to the main stream media. This is mainly because of the fact that main stream media are institutional bodies with a tunnel vision and self imposed restrictions. Blog portals provide more freedom to its writers since they can exercise their right of expression without an institutional framework. Institutional setups restrict its employees on what to do, speak and decide the role to be played by each and every employee. Such institutionally induced pressures are thus more in Main stream media.

Writing and managing a Blog cannot be considered as a long term plan but a mere experiment which may cause positive and negative effects. It may not subject itself to any institutional practices like marking or content evaluation. There is a three way connection existing between the “Name of the Blog”, “Personality of the Blogger” and the “Content of the Blog”. In fact a Blog through its fan forum may evolve as a community. The Blog aggregators connect all Blogs of a particular language in a particular site, thus collecting and providing information of various Bloggers and Blogs. “Tamil Manam” is a creditable example of a Blog aggregator in the Language of Tamil.

While naming a Blog, Bloggers don’t follow any rules or ideologies. A blog can be named in a casual manner unlike a journal which cannot afford its name to be unconnected with its content. A blog’s name may not reflect the identity of the Blogger initially, but makes a lot of sense when it provides creditable information.

Bloggers have proved to be the ultimate source of real time stories, since institutional bodies may not reflect the reality in real time. It’s a well established fact that many journalists gather news from Blogs, which spills the beans out without the serious limitations of an institutionalized setup.

One must utilize the Blog portals to record his observations on any sphere of thinking or events in a subjective manner. Journalists haven’t attempted much in subjective analysis. This factor of subjective reporting has been the trump card for Bloggers who are treated as professional rivals and external competitors of the main stream media. In fact a famous journalist based in India avenged a blogger by closing down his blog as he attempted to expose her scandalous transactions. Thus Mainstream Media Practitioners have become intolerant and hyper sensitive towards other media like Blogs. A blog writer must not reproduce mere facts but present facts which could be delivered on an individual perspective Thus the ultimate beauty of blog writing lies in discovering the beauty of expressing the personal subjective views of an individual on a fair and free basis.

THE ELEGANT UNIVERSE – Part I DOCUMENTARY FILM ANALYSIS

The Elegant universe is an exemplary documentary based on quantum mechanics and physics. It takes a drill into a new world of “String Theory” which is a recent and an advanced concept of new physics. It deals with precision and conviction on the concept of “What all of us in this universe are made up of” ranging from the smallest existing atom to the earth. This theory mainly suggests that we are a tree of everything and these strings constitute a cosmic symphony, thereby creating a parallel vision of the universe with eleven dimensions.

The theory of everything -: Is it a theory of Philosophy or Physics? The root cause for this sphere of thinking all started with Newton’s discovery of gravity through his observation of the apple falling from the tree. Einstein gave the world what the position of gravity is to the world. So the possibilities of science are plethora in nature and have made it possible for humans to communicate with animals.

Almost half a century ago, at a modest home in Princeton University Einstein propounded the equation “Theory of everything” which lays emphasis on the goal for unification. This became the holy grill of physics and fostered the development of the string theory. The string theory suggests that we may be living in a universe with a parallel elegant universe comprising of musical strings. On a precise manner, everything in this universe is made up of vibrating strings of energy just like how the strings of a cello is capable of producing music, when played by a musician. This unification describes everything in one single master equation which has been the ultimate dream of fundamental physicists over a long period of time to derive at.

The story of the quest for this master equation dates back to 1665, wherein a young man (Isaac Newton) after observing an apple falling from the tree, propounded the theory of gravity. Thus gravity was considered to be the first force to be understood scientifically and brought heaven and earth in a single theory. Though Newton was able to plot the course of gravity, he had no idea how it works. At the age of 26, Einstein discovered that the velocity of light is at the speed of cosmic limit, thus claiming that nothing can travel speeder than light. According to Newton’s theory if the sun diminishes from the universe, all planets will fly off the orbit due to the absence of gravitation. Einstein knows that the light from the sun takes 8 minutes to reach the earth and disproved the 250 year old picture of the universe created by Newton. He claimed that the force of gravity doesn’t exceed the speed of cosmic limit and that it traverses as if on a trampoline through the fabric of space time. Thus he states that if the sun disappears, the gravitational change will create new wave ripples of gravity, thereby creating a new picture of gravity and the universe. Despite propounding the general relativity theory, Einstein wasn’t satisfied and started to work on electromagnetism. Einstein at that time was deeply influenced by the Morse code invention of Samuel Morse which enabled transmission of messages through telegraph wires over long distances and Maxwell who found how electricity and magnetism are closely related in the language of Mathematics. Maxwell unified electricity and magnetism as electromagnetism and this was a remarkable breakthrough as a diverse phenomena. Einstein admired Newton and Maxwell and believed that through unifying gravity and electromagnetism he will derive the master equation that would unify the entire universe. Though he was sure to derive the theory, his elements of research contradicted his results. When comparing the force of gravity to that of electromagnetism, gravity is terribly feeble and that the force of electromagnetism is billion times greater than that of gravity. Thus Einstein’s unification on these set of parameters couldn’t reach its ultimate goal.

In the 1920’s a group of young scientists came up with a new realm of physics, which deals with the bifurcation of atoms into its sub atomic particles known as the nucleus , protons and electrons. The strong nucleus acts like a super gum binding all the sub atomic particles. The weak nucleus converts neutrons into electrons.

This gave rise to a new sphere of thinking known as quantum mechanics. The field of quantum mechanics which is a radical theory rubbished all previous theories on the universe. It opened a new unsettled and uncertain picture of the world. Laws are different in the quantum world and everything is ruled by change in this world. It suggests all possibilities in the universe to happen and that one must abandon all previously existing notions on the world to understand its working. Experiments proved how the universe works under sub atomic levels and no prediction in quantum mechanics hasn’t contradicted anything.

None could figure out how gravity works or binds with quantum mechanics. It still remains a split off from each other. In 1933 Einstein started working in solitude, to unify gravity and electromagnetism. He claimed that quantum mechanics played no role in his research to derive the theory of everything. After Einstein’s demise in 1950’s, no serious scientist got involved in this experiment. The Black holes theory propounded by the German scientist Karl Schwarzschild proved that not even light could escape its gravitational pull. This theory now seems to be the real foundation for the strings theory which aims to make a perfect sense and understanding of the universe. Probably everything in this universe is made of tiny vibrating strings of energy. The concept of this one single ingredient which unites different forces existing in this universe is achieved through this theory. The question as to why the universe exists in its current stature fails to provide a testified solution and proves that science is not all in this universe. Thus the understanding of the universe has come the wrong way for the past 300 years and that the strings theory which achieves the laws of all emerges as the single theory that governs everything.

Does Science and Spirit say the same thing? Why are we here as Humans? What is the purpose of our lives?. Such questions have always dazzled many scholars and philosophers who attribute their own way of reasoning to answer. The concept of dualism has always advocated the religious myths of the Church and the logical realism of Science. The Church propagates what is unseen and science accepts what is seen and realized. Though what is unseen was considered holy it comprises of merely fantasy. Since the scientists weren’t able to accept the fantasy themes of the Church they were condemned to hell. Mysteriously or scientifically we are all connected with the universe. Though humans are required to rediscover their true nature, it is quite necessary to check the craziness of such ideas at crazy stages. The experimental methods employed in Physics create an apparent rift between science and the church. The book of genesis which is considered to be the scholarly approach of the church to learn about the beginnings of the earth connect all universal beings at large. Science creates history with which we live. We, humans were considered to be the lonely mistake in the lonely planet in a lonely universe in the past. Now we are all considered to be as one single whole family. This documentary mainly aims to make us realize the true nature of the human race.

Consciousness is real and creates an impact. However the mind works, it affects our perception and feeling. There is more to the world than what we experience. Our eyes are similar to that of a camcorder and the brain is the editor’s table which processes and reorders all information captured by the eye. Without these two organs we are literally paralyzed to collect information. Our eyes never deceive us. In this documentary a lady by the name of Amanda is constantly disturbed by a imaginary illusion or dream scene where she is attacked by a tribal man. When she tries to explain this to her friend, her friend remarks that this could be suggesting or revealing details of her previous birth.

This mainly raises the question of why philosophers consider destructuralization of our lives in terms of Classical mechanics as a distinct field of research. The world is not a Clock work thing and our behavior affects not only us but the entire globe ( Big energy in small spaces of time ). The study of quantum physics is acutely paradoxical and thus considered to be a mysterious discipline of study. The research findings of quantum mechanics suggest that everything existing in this world is interconnected. Everything active in this world is in supervision. The display of information and potentiality of electrons suggests what is the field of information that super strengths one. This is visually described in the basket ball incident with Amanda and a boy who prompts Amanda to join him at the court and persuades her to throw the ball into the basket. Though initially she doesn’t express her interest to participate, she finally does score a goal at the court. This incident advocates not only one property but the core property of quantum mechanics. It suggests that the world is filled with never ending possibilities. The atoms are considered to be the fabric of the universe and the constituent element of quantum mechanics. One can assume that the universe is a flat conscience that controls even the fractional movement of the hand and its ground of existence cannot be seen. It is a unified field comprising of pure abstract feel of consciousness. Such ideas, concepts and contraventions make things and this is tangled in Physics or as in relativity. It suggests that the head is moving faster than feet and that time reverses symmetry. Thus the future can have a cause and effect on the present.

The documentary then shows the double slit experiment with marbles and waves. The result of the experiment shows that when one wave confronts with another it cancels out and creates an interference pattern.

“Treat all of us as observers”- : There exists two separate laws on the evolution of the physical system. We think in tons of possibilities but see only one in real time or reality. This idea is suggested by the visuals wherein Amanda searches for the ball in the basket ball court. The visuals are so effective and display lots of virtual existing basket balls in the background but Amanda with conviction picks up the right spot where the ball is situated. The World is the source of reality but we determine it based on how far we traverse down the ramp. A reality is entangled and space just gives us the illusion that they are separate by nature. Super position is a form of pre detection and suggests that objects can be in 3000 positions but can posses only one way function. This concept is so mysterious that one can never understand why they are inseparable and interdependent, and thus cannot pull one way from the other.

Intentions are always in unison with what we are capable of generating. The random generator experiment testifies the same concept. Every action of us affects reality. Water is considered to be the most responsive element of nature. The water drops experiment shows how water responds to our emotions. The images of “ Chi of Love”, “ Thank you” shown in the documentary report to peace and agreement. Our thought and intent is thus considered to be the driving force.

“ What we observe is what that comes back to us” -: Since 90 % of our body comprises of water , thoughts when added to it changes its representation. Mind in the superficial level can cause great phenomena to occur. This is mainly because even though each element is assumed to be different, they are complimentary in existence.

The fundamental truth of reality according to quantum mechanics theory was despised by Einstein. This theory accounts the universe as the ultimate school of learning and emphasizes our association with people, place and things. The concept of relative to addiction is the hypnotist effect created by the Media , Television and cinema. Very few people realize this belief as many aren’t exposed to it. If one changes his mind he changes his beliefs. If he changes he beliefs he changes his life. This corresponds to the drive in his ambitious thoughts. The society creates adversity in our lives. The Almighty within us is the ultimate realization of the self. All people are divine people. One is reminded of the famous quote in this regard by Swami Vivekananda which says “Each soul is potentially divine”.

We are gifted with tremendous amount of plasticity in our nervous system. The Human experience is a part of the universal experience. A connection definitely thus exists in each and every activity occurring in this world. We all create future and what is outside us. We therefore need to do the things which are best for our own welfare. These statements conclude on a note that Science and consciousness share a strong nexus in terms of activity and operation. Thus reemphasizing that the knowledge and fear of the unknown is what that thrills us the most.

Cinema has become the most powerful form of Mass Media since the day it was introduced to the world. The Lumiere Brothers who invented the ‘ Cinematograph’ ( a compact and portable device which with a few adjustments could be used as a projector , camera or a printing machine) declared that the cinema is an invention without a future. The primitive form of cinema were ‘ living photographic pictures’ which attempted to produce reality. If Cinema in reality was considered to be an invention without a future, it wouldn’t have ceased to exist till the present age and develop to its current stature with powerful attributes. The dawn of Indian Cinema marked its birth and development after the first cinematographic exhibitions which were held in Mumbai during the month of July in the year 1896, where Indian Dramatists, photographers, musicians could foresee a tremendous potential in this medium for their innovative productions. Since then there was no looking back for the Indian Cinema Industry which is growing and developing very rapidly in all aspects. The Indian cinema industry has created new vibes and has attained a respectable position in the Global Film maker’s fraternity.

The Indian Cinema producers and the film fraternity have constantly been changing their trends and styles of Film Making according to the ever changing tastes and preferences of the targeted audience. The art of cinema has created a widespread and profound impact on the society. The Indian box office has always been energetic and enthusiastic about every production that is being released every Friday. The art of Cinema and all those who have their strong connections with the silver screen entertainment have always been acknowledged and held in high esteem in the Indian society. The people who call themselves mad followers and fans of a particular Cinema personality do worship their favorite actor / actress with abundant affection and interest. Cinema has almost become a religion with the increase in number of such mad followers who can be termed as ‘ Cine extremists’ who would do anything for the cause of Cinema.

Eminent Prose write John Ruskin in his work titled ‘ Sesame and lilies’ classifies books into a few broad categories which are ‘ Good books of the hour, Good books of all times, Bad books of the hour and Bad books of all times’. On a similar note we can classify Indian Cinemas as well. Certain Indian cinemas are worthy of a watch as many as times one wishes too and also the rest fitting into the successive categories based on their merit and credentials. The various sections of the Indian society have different expectations and ideas on what is called an ideal or a perfect cinema. The film maker has to measure the pros and cons of the various such considerations and expectations from the different sections of the Indian Society which is a stupendous task. There are a very few film makers in the Indian Cine Industry who are possessed with this rare ability of taking correct notions according to the changing lifestyle and tastes and deliver the best possible results in terms of production.

If literature has the capability to mirror life, cinema certainly inherits the ability to mirror society and culture. Cinema is nothing but an attempt to showcase the reality and existence of a particular culture and society on the silver screen. A cinema can have various themes and can be categorically classified as a horror film, action film , romantic film and so on. Though such themes do fancy the Minds of Film makers it is the social and cultural impact of a film that amounts and brings credit to its success.

As stated earlier the victory of a Film predominantly depends on its social and cultural impact. Let us take some of the Tamil and Hindi Film Productions into consideration.

· TAARE ZAMEEN PAR ( HINDI) : A fantastic film revealing the true merits of Dyslexic Kids who are gifted with something in place of the normal qualities . This was an eye opener in terms of educating kids with dyslexic complaints and also morally supports those parents with dyslexic kids. This film did very well in all aspects but the entire credit goes to the conception and message behind the film which is unfortunately absent in most of the films of the present. This film is an educational treatise on how children with such complaints must be handled and encouraged. All wrong notions about dyslexic kids were erased and clarified to the optimum after watching this film.

· ANBE SIVAM ( TAMIL) : A true portrayal of what is kindness and how the love for humanity unites all. This film states that good qualities like Love and kindness is something which is essential in every human being and are not dependant on any external factor such as religion, caste etc. Religion is just a factor that classifies the divine interests of a human being and should not interfere in the conduct of his / her own life. This cinema conveys a creditable message / theme of an universal religion which is the love for humanity and humanness and preaches that one must never fight or shed blood in the name of religion or community.

· MY NAME IS KHAN ( HINDI) : A film that conveys a strong message that Terrorism is not triggered by any religion and community. No religion exercises or empowers a person to kill another in the name of community. The film shows that people are branded in the name of religion and shows how the act of a terrorist from a particular religion could manifest serious trouble on the lives of the other innocent civilians from the same religion.

The above instances are a few selective and creditable examples that stand testimonial to the fact that Indian Cinemas are capable of creating a healthy and positive impact on the society. On the other hand the majority of Indian cinemas of the present age are deliberately produced for commercial aspects which sacrifices ethics and values involved in Film making. Indian Cinemas of such type create and instill notorious thoughts on its viewers who attempt to ape such thoughts and deeds in reality. Anti social activities such as sexual and communal violence, terrorism is being triggered by such films. Moreover such films prosper in commercial aspects sending wrong signals to such film makers who consider such productions are liked by the public. Thus it is the hands of young citizens like us to create a change in the society by boycotting such notorious films and promote worthy and notable film productions with chaste ideas and values.

THE ART OF Electronic Music Production – MIDI- An Introduction

The new age man has developed his taste and ear for music in tune with the technological advancement and progression involved in music production. This stems from the fact that whenever he is stumbles on something new, he is always excited by the native reason that he has discovered something new, crediting his subtleties of the senses and his power of reasoning.

To start with, I honestly attempt to share a few things about a basic, major and an innovative aspect of Electronic Music Production known as MIDI. MIDI stands for Musical Instrument Digital Interface. This factor forms the basis on which Electronic Music Instruments such as Keyboards were devised or invented. Electricity has enlightened our lives by means of various inventions which has made life easier and comfortable. This Electronic revolution has created a profound impact on the Music and the Creative aspects of Music Production.

These Electronic instruments are capable of simulating sounds almost similar to that of acoustic real instruments. Though they cannot replace the exact timbre and resonance of an acoustic instrument , they extend support to Musicians to pre – Visualize or preview what they have composed. For example , A music composer has composed a sequence or a Background score for a particular requirement. Let us take for example a duet song. Using this concept of MIDI he can preview how his music will sound or be heard if played by acoustic real instruments. This allows him to experiment various types of orchestration for a particular song / musical work. The technological advancements substitute the hard work presence and functioning of a live orchestral setup. On the contrary to a popular scholar's statement : “The Scientific progress is nothing but a nuisance in exchange of another” the art of composing has been simplified using MIDI.

With the invention of Keyboards, men have been exposed to Electronic Music and increasinly made familiar in deciphering its intricacies.

The keyboard is made of two basic sections -:
1The Section with the keys – called the keyboard
2)The section with the tones known as the Tone generator or the tone module.

These two sections can exist together and when they exist separately one can have only keys (which can be used only for remote controlling) or only sounds which cannot be utilized without a controller. The remote control / controller is a device that allows a musician to control one or more other musical instruments when he plays a single instrument. This allows a musician to thicken or Layera musical part by including sounds of several instruments playing in perfect unison. This facilitates a composer who has only two hands to play 5 or more instruments at once.

MIDIis a digital language in a binary form which can be edited
recorded and manipulated through the use of CPU technology. This hardware and software allowed midi messages to be recorded, edited like one would edit text on a word processor, and played back at a later time.

Types of Channel Messages utilized in MIDI-:

Channel Voice Messages are directly connected with the music being recorded and played. Some of them are as follows -:

# Note on – When a musician presses and holds down a key on a Keyboard, it not only causes to sound the musical note but also generates a Note on Message

# Note off -: When a musician releases the key it not only stops the sounding of the musical note but also generates a Note off message.

Polyphonic after touch -: This message refers to the amount of pressure placed on the key at the bottom of its travel. It is used to create effects based on how much the player leans onto the key after pressing it.It is used to apply performance parameters such as 'Vibrato'.

There are many such messages which aid the process of simulating the sounds of acoustic real instruments (which would require lengthy explanations). Thus would like to proceed with the next important concept of MIDI which is that MIDI Note Numbers.

A MIDI controller (be it a piano like keyboard ,a MIDI Guitar, and a MIDI Drum kit) can have upto 128 distinctive pitches / notes. The MIDI devices assign a unique number to each key which is used for processing and manipulating the MIDI data. The numbers used are from 0 to 127.Therefore, theoretically, a MIDI Controller can have 128 Keys.

A hardware requirement for connecting a midi device to a computer is called as a MIDI interface. In other words, this is a device that acts as a translator between the MIDI device and the PC.

# GENERAL MIDI - is a defined set of Patches ( Instrument sounds) incorporated to make sound modules more compatible. This standard set was devised for 128 patches which must appear in a specific order predefined by GM. The patches are arranged into 16 families of Instruments with each family containing 8 instruments. For example, there is a reed family, and so on. The Saxophone, Oboe and clarinet are among the 8 instruments present.
