Audio & Video Links – Maharagapuram Gandharva’s Concert in a Capsule Video Series – “Sangeetha Sharade” Concert - Episode 1

About the Maharagapuram Gandharva’s Concert in a Capsule   Video Series Initiative

For those of us who love the idea of the sabha but cannot always spare two hours, this series is a beginning. Each episode takes a live concert . The kind where the air in the hall changes when the artist finds a phrase and distils it into ten minutes. A thread of an alapana. A niraval that lifts off unexpectedly. A moment when the mridangam answers a question the vocalist did not know they were asking.

You may not recognise every raga. You do not need to. You may not know what a thani avartanam is. That is completely fine. The music will find you exactly where you are.

This is not a documentary. This is not a lecture. This is a concert. Ten minutes of one. And if it does what we hope it does, ten minutes will not feel like nearly enough.

Welcome. Press play.

About the Inaugural Episode – 14th June 2026 - -“Sangeetha Sharade” Concert by Maharajapuram S.Ganesh Viswanathan on June 5th 2026

Snippets from my recital for the “Sangeetha Sharade” concert series, hosted by the Sringeri Sharada Peetham with the Blessings of  Ubhaya Jagadgurus of Dakshinaamnaaya Sri Sri Sringeri Sharadha peetam ,Jagadguru Sankaracharya Sri.Sri.Bharathi Theertha Maha Sannidhanam, Jagadguru Sankaracharya Sri.Sri.Vidhu Shekara Bharathi Sri Sannidhanam  , have been arranged to give you the taste of a concert experience.

A bhajan in mellow Saramati sets the tone of bhakthi. Guru sthuthis follow a guessing game – is it about different Gurus, or are they all sung in the praise of one Guru; wait, are the ragas same too? If you are not into trivia and are just soaking the guru tattva, then “Dayarani” in Mohanam takes you deeper into that space. The tempo changes with some energetic Oothukadu songs.

This offering is a ten-minute capsule capturing an entire kutcheri experience for you to enjoy in your personal comfort space.  I’ll leave you with Thiruvalluvar’s words: Sevvikku unavuilladha podhu, siridhu vayitrikkum eeya padum (The mind's primary nourishment comes from listening)
